Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison
: Review

I had been seeing this book go around Instagram for such a long time so when I saw that there were ARC requests of it on NetGalley, I took that as a sign and requested it and I got it!

This book is the first of 4 books in a series called the Lovelight series. All books after this one are about side characters that we meet in this book. The books should be read in order since we see a glimpse of each relationship in each book. Judging on how good the first book is, you won't regret reading the entire series.

Summary

Stella has always wanted to let people make memories with their families the same way she and her mother made them at the same exact Christmas tree farm she bought a year ago. But not everything is going to plan especially with some racoons wanting to be enemies. The farm isn't doing that well financially but Stella refuses to depend on her other business partners or her best friend. When the opportunity arises that the farm can be featured in a competition with a big cheque as the prize, Stella doesn't think twice to apply. Although, while applying she might have said a bit of a white lie which may include her and her best friend of 9 years, Luca, dating and opening the farm together because who doesn't love a sappy romance story? Now with the influencer on her way, she needs someone to act as her fake boyfriend, and the only person who would do it without a second thought, is the man she was thinking of while lying in the application.

The Plot

Like many people, the Friends to Lovers trope is not a personal favorite but it's executed so good in this book that I couldn't help but love it! Although they're fake relationship is because of a white lie, it's easy to see where the female protagonist was coming from. This book was written so so well and the tropes fit so perfectly in this book! Some tropes included along with Friends to Lovers are Forced ProximitySmall Town and Golden retriever male character (a personal fave I must add). The author wrote this book so well that no amount of stars can show how much I enjoyed this book!

The Characters

Stella Bloom

Stella was such a likeable character! Unfortunately, I'm starting to find many female characters obnoxious or annoying but I loved Stella's character so much. The author wrote her grief and anxiety and separation issues from her childhood so well that it would be hard not to sympathize with her and and understand what she does to keep people at arms length but still close and why.

Luka Peters

This man is raising my standards in men which is very dangerous seeing as no real man will ever reach them any time soon, or simply in this lifetime. This man reminds me of a cute and fluffy golden retriever. He is ADORABLE! The fact that he's part Italian just makes him even better! I simply loved the way Stella would walk in her house and just find him there randomly making ravioli for her because let me say, those are some life goals right there. The book is already incredible, but with this man added to the equation, this book easily made it to my top 10 books of 2023 in a second.

If you are wondering, yes I will be buying the entire series when I'm able to and yes I will be fangirling to the second book in this series which is Beckett's book because who doesn't love a man who stuffs kittens in his front pouch scared that they'll have separation anxiety and will miss him? Well I sure do!
